Today the Year 5 and 6 children successfully navigated their way around Woolton Hill and led the staff and parent volunteers on some very interesting, engaging and muddy routes! We were impressed with their map skills which they have practised this term in their Geography topic.
The children had been disappointed to learn that our beautiful village of Woolton Hill did not feature in any of the Hampshire walking guides and felt we had been somewhat forgotten! They were charged with planning a 5km circular walk around the village to take in key sites of interest for their beauty or historic importance. Some groups also considered where people might park their car and where they could find refreshments on route.
The hike was the final assessment opportunity in the topic and a lot of fun for all! All groups were successful in navigating a successful route and we were surprised and impressed with the beautiful scenery and interested places we visited in the village.
A big thank you to the volunteers who helped to make this a success.
