Headteacher's Update

Attendance is vitally important to your child’s education and time at school. Showing your child the importance of attending school every day not only helps your child to settle quickly when starting school but helps them to keep and maintain friendships and enjoy the school environment.

As a Federation we aim to have our overall attendance of 96% or higher and appreciate your efforts in supporting us with this. Here is an update on our attendance rates for September.

Harvest Festival

It was wonderful that the community could come together at St Thomas' Church this week to celebrate Harvest Festival and collect items to donate to West Berkshire Foodbank.

The children performed superbly, including a variety of songs, poems, and readings from across the Infant and Junior schools.

It was great to see the Church full and I would like to thank all of our families for supporting this event and donating so generously to such a good cause. Thanks must also go to Reverend Christine for leading our Worship.

All of the children from across the Federation will be joining together to take part in a carousel of activities which will introduce them to the exciting world of outdoor education. Some of these activities that the children will be taking part in on the day include:

· Making smelly nature cocktails

· Den building in the forest

· Orienteering challenges

· Making Clay tree faces

· ‘Blind as a Bat’ obstacle courses

· Creating nature artwork

· Scavenger hunts

The day will be run by the staff from both schools and the children will be working within their Key Stages to complete the activities. Children will be encouraged to work collaboratively as part of a team to problem solve, building both their confidence and resilience in new situations. Please provide your child with a packed lunch on this day as no hot meals will be available.
