Headteacher's Update

Attendance is vitally important to your child’s education and time at school. Showing your child the importance of attending school every day not only helps your child to settle quickly when starting school but helps them to keep and maintain friendships and enjoy the school environment.

As a Federation we aim to have our overall attendance of 96% or higher and appreciate your efforts in supporting us with this. Here is an update on our attendance rates for the year to date:

Children's Mental Health Week

At the School of Woolton Hill we will be celebrating Children’s Mental Health Week in the last week of term: Monday 5th – Thursday 8th February. The theme of this year’s mental health week is ‘My Voice Matters’ and will be about empowering the children by providing them with the tools that they need to express themselves.

The week will begin with an introductory assembly on Monday morning and then every afternoon the children will have a taught session in which they will explore various themes and strategies they can use to help them talk about their mental health.

As part of this week, we would like to invite parents to come into your child’s classroom where you will be able to take part in a Stormbreak session which is an exciting new project that the Federation has been a part of for the past few months. Stormbreak sessions are especially designed to improve children’s mental health through movement equipping them with the sustainable, transferable skills and coping strategies to thrive during the complex demands of growth into adult life.

After the Stormbreak session we would really like parents to stay and enjoy some quality time with your child by playing a board game. Tea and coffee will also be available.  You are welcome to bring a family favourite in from home or we can provide one for you.

Monday 5th Feb 2:15 – 3:15 – Hedgehogs class

Tuesday 6th Feb 2:15 – 3:15 – Badgers class

Wednesday 7th Feb 2:15 – 3:15 – Otters class

Outdoor Learning Day

Our Mental Health week will end with our second Federation Outdoor Learning morning on Thursday 8 February. All children should have a pair of wellies that they have already brought into school for outdoor learning but if not they must have these in school by Thursday 8th. Children will also need to bring in their waterproof clothes as we will be outside all morning even if it is raining!
