Headteacher's Update

What an exciting few weeks it has been across the Federation. It was wonderful to see the school community come together to enjoy the musical performances, excellent food, fun and games of WoolFest (despite the rain). This Woolton Hill tradition continues to be one of the highlights of the school year and I would like to thank The Friends of The Schools of Woolton Hill for their hard work and organisation.

I would also like to say a massive thank you on behalf of myself and all our staff to all the helpers who give up their time on a regular basis to come into school and make such a difference by listening to children read, keeping our school library looking so good and the PTA for their continued support in fundraising for our school.

Thank you to all of our families who came together last week to cheer on the children at Sports Day. We were treated to some excellent examples of sporting brilliance and sportsmanship. Thanks to Mrs Jones and the whole staff team for their efforts on the day.

Finally on behalf of all our staff and governors I would like to wish the children leaving us next week all the very best in their new schools and wish you all a very happy summer holiday.

Summer Concert

We are looking forward to welcoming our families to the Infants Summer Concert on Friday 19th July. The concert will start at 2pm and we hope it will be outside as we did last year - weather permitting! If not, we will relocate to the larger junior school hall.

Children from all of the classes will sing for you and we hope you can join us for a relaxing and entertaining concert.

The 'Friends of Woolton Hill' will also be there and hoping to encourage new members to join their team. Please consider if you can give us some time for our schools and to support this wonderful team of volunteers. Ice creams will be sold after the show.

On Tuesday 23rd July there will be a leavers assembly at 9am in the school hall.  Parents of children in Year 2 are very welcome to attend.  The children will also enjoy a special leavers lunch on the same day.

House Point Winners

This half term the house point winners are AQUILA house at St Thomas'. Well done for earning the most house points this term!

Our overall yearly winners are LYNX house - well done for a superb amount of House Points earnt through good choices, following our school ABC and our values of respect, wisdom and courage.

Children in AQUILA and LYNX house can come to school in non-uniform on Monday next week.

Last Day of Term

The school menu on Tuesday 23rd July will be a choice of pizza, jacket potato or fish fingers. There will be no picnic bag options on Monday or Tuesday next week.

Lunchtime Supervisor Role

We are seeking to expand our lunchtime team at both schools so that we can offer more adult support on the playground for children whilst they play. This is a paid role term time only from 12:15 - 1:15pm daily but we are open to a job share - so it you are interested but can only commit for a day or two then please do still get in touch.

We will offer behaviour and play training, and this could be a very good step into learning more about education and life in school.

You would join our wonderful team of Teaching Assistants who lead over lunchtimes and have a wealth of experience they can share to support someone new in the role.

If you are interested in this role either Monday to Friday or for certain days of the week, please contact the school office or email adminoffice@whjs.hants.sch.uk

School Uniform

As the end of the school year approaches, we thought it would be helpful to remind parents of our school uniform expectations. These can be found on our website here.

Please note that cycle shorts and leggings are NOT part of our PE uniform.

Children will also need to keep in school these items for their Outdoor Learning lessons:

  • Welly boots (named)

  • Jogging bottoms (ideally navy or black, no leggings)

  • Children should always bring to school a waterproof coat

  • Children in EYFS should bring a waterproof all in one suit
