Headteacher's Update
After such a long period of bubbles and isolation, it is wonderful to be welcoming our community back into school. Our Federation has been a hive of activity this week. At St Thomas' we've had the local society of bell-ringers perform a fantastic recital to our children, who really enjoyed the performance. Its been wonderful to welcome parent volunteers into school to listen to readers, tidy the library and even support mathematics! If you would like to join our growing band of volunteers then you can find out more below.
Our open days have been a huge success across both schools. They were really well attended and gave us an opportunity to show-off a wealth of great learning opportunities. I felt really proud of school and our Ambassadors and House Captains from both schools who gave excellent tours and received great feedback from the parents. If you would like to book on to our November tours, then you will find details below.
I would like to wish all of our children and families a very relaxing half term holiday. Don't forget that Monday 31st October is an INSET day, so we look forward to welcoming everyone back at 8.45am on Tuesday 1st November.
PE Days - new days after half term!
After half-term the PE days for each class will be:
Hazel: Thursday and Friday
Rowan: Thursday and Friday
Ash: Monday and Wednesday
Beech: Monday and Wednesday
Oak: Monday and Tuesday
All clubs continue after half-term, please remember to bring PE kit in a bag for after school clubs.
Maths Meeting
A maths curriculum meeting will take place at 3.45pm at the Junior school on Monday 14th November. This is aimed at parents with children at either school and will help you understand how we teach maths and how you can support them at home.
Open Days
Is your child starting school in September 2023. Perhaps they will be transferring to Junior School next September? We have upcoming Open Days, where you can see our brilliant schools in action.
Parent / Guardian Consultations
These will be taking place on Tuesday 1st November and Tuesday 8th November from 3.45pm to 6.15pm. Please book via the Arbor Parent Portal or contact the school office.
Job Vacancies Across the Federation
There are opportunities to join our staff team at St Thomas Infant and Woolton Hill Junior. Click here to find out more.
Cauliflower Cards
Your child should have brought home an order form from Cauliflower Cards, this is an opportunity to order Christmas cards and other Christmas items featuring your child's artwork. Orders and payments should be made directly via the Cauliflower Cards website and then the artwork and order form returned to school ready for collection by Cauliflower Cards. Please note all artwork must be returned to school by Wednesday 2nd November.
Volunteers Required
We are looking for parents and members of our community to volunteer to hear our children read in school. Daily reading is an important part of developing a child's fluency and comprehension skills. Listening to children read and supporting their skills, is fun and rewarding and you will be supported/trained in this role.
If you have 30 minutes that you can spare each week, then please email your details to adminoffice@whjs.hants.sch.uk
Safeguarding is important in all schools and all volunteers are DBS checked before starting their role.
Lost Property
The lost property box in the entrance porch is already filling up, please feel free to have a hunt through if your child is missing any items. Please can all uniform, water bottles and packed lunch boxes be name labelled so that they can be returned to their owner. Anything remaining in the box at half term will be disposed of.
