This week we are encouraging children from across the Federation to take part in Walk to School Week (15th to 19th May 2023).
This fun and engaging week-long activity for primary schools has been built to make pupils experience first-hand the importance of walking to school.
Through this challenge, children will be well on their way to reaching their recommended 60 minutes minimum of physical activity per day before even reaching the school gates!
What are the benefits of walking to school?
Walking to school helps children feel happier and healthier and even do better in class because they arrive refreshed, fit and ready to learn. More families walking means fewer cars on the road during the school run, helping to reduce congestion and pollution at the school gates. Its great for the environment.
What if we can’t walk to school?
If you live too far away or don’t have time to walk the whole way to school, you can 'Park and Stride' by parking in the village and walking the last part of the journey.
